As Halloween draws near the Disabled Ramblers are getting wrapped up in preparation for the last event of the ramble season on Sunday the 30th of October.
The autumnal ramble will take in many of the beauty spots the River Lagan has to offer. Starting 11am, the ramblers will meet at Malone House set in the parkland of Barnett Demesne from this point; the ramblers will travel along Shaw’s Bridge to Clement Wilson Park. The park’s paths provide an excellent opportunity for the Ramblers to enjoy the beauty of the Lagan Tow path and wildlife enthusiasts to spot its local inhabitants such as Kingfishers and Wagtails.
And to be sure to keep out the cold there will be a chance to enjoy something hot at The Lock-Keepers Inn before heading onto Belvoir Forest Park. The working forest park within Belfast City includes many historic sites such as a Norman Motte dating back to the 17th century and of course an array of wildlife and tree specimens providing at this time of year a vibrant canvas of natural beauty for our ramblers to enjoy.
The Ramble, at around 1.30pm, will then rejoin the towpath on the north side of the river and return to the stunning Georgian Mansion, Malone House at around 4pm. For those who wish to partake; High Tea will be available and an opportunity to enjoy the latest exhibition on show in the Higgin’s Gallery or the pieces of public art in the elegant gardens nestled deep within the Lagan Valley Regional Park.
Ramblers will meet at Barnett Demesne Car Park for scooter allocation at around 10.45am. If you would like to join us on this splendid ramble (please call to book a scooter before Monday 25th October) or become a member of the Disabled Ramblers N.I., please contact Shopmobility Belfast on 028 9080 8090. You can also visit our website www.disabledramblersni.com for details of future events and how to become a member. Everyone is welcome, including friends and family to come along and join in.
