We gathered at The Odyssey and went straight to the Premier Inn for lunch, after which we went to PRONI (the Public Records Office of N.I.). Here we had a comprehensive tour of the new building and learned about the huge store of i8nformation contained therein. Some of the ramblers had to be dragged away from their Genealogy search!
We then briefly visited the new Belfast Metropolitan College Titanic Quarter building, just three days before it opened its doors to its first intake of students!
Across the road from the College is The Nomadic, the tender vessel of the Titanic. Although not open to the public yet we were given a talk about both the Nomadic’s past and its future as a major tourist attraction for Belfast.
Still on the Titanic theme we headed down to the Titanic Quarter marketing suite where we saw model’s of the final shape which the area will take. The iconic “Titanic Belfast” building was not accessible yet but we were able to have a good look at it from the site’s perimeter fence.
Our time gone, we all headed back to the Odyssey car-park and thence home.
Many thanks to the staff at the Premier Inn, PRONI, Belfast Met and The Nomadic.
